Helping Veterans and their Families Since 1996.
The Jewish War Veterans (JWV) is the oldest continuously functioning Veteran’s organization in the United States. The national organization and all its Posts are not for profit and devoted to assisting veterans of all faiths. Our organization is dedicated to protecting veterans’ rights and to promoting the well-being of all United States Veterans.
Our secondary mission is to help inform the public of the sacrifices Jewish soldiers have made in the defense of our great nation. Martin County JWV Post 549 strives to accomplish this mission by offering “scholarships for three Martin County High Schools ( One Scholarship for each High School) college-bound seniors, hosting dinners for disabled veterans and contributing to other local charities that enhance the well-being of all US veterans.” Membership in the JWV is open to all Jewish war Veterans, male and female, who have served honorably in the US Armed forces.
Our Post is strictly philanthropic. We receive no grants of any type. All monies raised, go to Veterans regardless of their race, creed or color. We are accepting new sponsors and donations for our philanthropic programs. If you wish to join us, or contribute to your local JWV post, please visit our website at www.jwvpost549.com and click on our “donation button”. We, citizens of the United States of America, of the Jewish faith, who served in the Wars of the United States of America, in order that we may be of greater service to our country and to one another, associate ourselves together for the following purposes:
To maintain true allegiance to the United States of America; to foster and perpetuate true Americanism; to combat whatever tends to impair the efficiency and permanency of our free institutions; to uphold the fair name of the Jew and fight his or her battles wherever unjustly assailed; to encourage the doctrine of universal liberty, equal rights, and full justice to all men and women; to combat the powers of bigotry and darkness wherever originating and whatever their target; to preserve the spirit of comradeship by mutual helpfulness to comrades and their families; to cooperate with and support existing educational institutions and establish educational institutions, and to foster the education of ex-servicemen and ex-servicewomen, and our members in the ideals and principles of Americanism; to instill love of country and flag, and to promote sound minds and bodies in our members and our youth; to preserve the memories and records of patriotic service performed by the men and women of our faith; to honor their memory and shield from neglect the graves of our heroic dead.
making a difference
As our veterans return from our current conflicts wounded in both mind and body, the JWV stands ready, as it has since 1896, to ensure that those who have fought our nation’s battles receive the treatment and the respect that they deserve from a grateful nation through JWV’s access to VA and government officials.
As anti-Semitism rises around the globe, the JWV stands ready, as it has since 1896, to support the state of Israel, the bastion of democracy in the Middle East, and to fight bigotry and prejudice wherever it is found.
Join with us to make a difference in the lives of veterans and to support the Jewish American community and fight bigotry throughout the world.
As a member of the JWV, you will continue a proud tradition of service to our country and to the Jewish community here and abroad.
Use the form below to contact us regarding your inquiry. Please be as detailed as possible. To help us best service you, we recommend that you first describe the issue you’re having before telling us what you want to achieve. You may also email or call us to make an appointment.
We’re always looking for new members and volunteers.
